Timeless Black-Tie Wedding at The Allison Inn
Allison and Matt’s wedding at The Allison Inn epitomized timeless elegance, with a black-and-white color palette, touches of soft blue, and abundant cream-colored florals. It was an honor to be their wedding planner! It wasn’t just an aesthetically beautiful celebration but an emotionally moving one. The couple’s family and friends all came together to ensure their day was extra special. You could feel the love in the air!
Despite growing up in Lake Oswego and attending rival high schools, Allison and Matt never knew each other. It wasn’t until they met on a dating website that their story began! They made plans for a first date, but Matt ended up pulling a double shift and overslept—standing Allison up. However, she gave him a second chance over breakfast at La Provence, and as their officiant put it, “it was love at second sight.” The rest is history!

Every aspect of the event bore our signature touch, from the vendors to the designs. We assisted the couple with venue selection, hired and coordinated with all their vendors, and implemented their design vision. Ultimately, we helped them execute a seamless black-tie event for 200 of their loved ones.
A Wedding Day Full of Meaningful Moments
Of course, while air-tight planning and gorgeous aesthetics have their place, true wedding day magic comes from laughter, tears, and cherished moments shared with loved ones. Matt lost his father to cancer in 2020. So, it was a top priority for him and his family to include his father’s memory in the day. At the beginning of the ceremony, Matt placed a framed photo of his dad in the seat next to his mother so that he could be there in spirit to witness the couple’s vows. It was a beautiful acknowledgment and a reminder of the bittersweet emotions often accompanying a wedding day.
At the couple’s reception, there were few dry eyes in the room as Allison and Matt’s family members all gave a toast, sharing their favorite memories of the couple and wishing them a long and happy marriage. Matt’s brother’s toast was especially moving as he shared how he saw everything their father stood for in Matt. From the speeches and dancing to the space in The Allison Inn’s Coppergold Ballroom, it was one of those unforgettable evenings we feel so glad to have been part of. Are you planning a Portland wedding? We would love to connect and help you celebrate your special day.
