Our team had the pleasure of providing full-service planning for Brittany and Jake’s July nuptials at Sentinel Hotel. This wedding was near to my heart because Brittany is a relative of my husband! Brittany is a Portland native, while Jake is from London. So, they wanted their special day to pay homage to both cultures. Moreover, they wanted to honor their Jewish faith with a traditional ceremony. Our team helped them weave together a meaningful wedding day. Their day centered on their heritage and exuded elegance magnified by the hotel’s historic charm. Local photographer Andrea Zajonc captured it all beautifully!

Jewish Wedding Ceremony at Sentinel Hotel

Brittany and Jake chose to exchange their vows on a Sunday evening per Jewish tradition. Jake hosted a Tisch for his wedding party earlier in the day. Then, the couple also signed the Ketubah, which their rabbi read aloud at their ceremony. After meeting Jake underneath the Chuppah, Brittany circled him seven times. This ritual symbolized the new family “circle” they were creating with the advent of their marriage! Observance of these Jewish wedding traditions set apart Brittany and Jake’s ceremony as their own.

The couple’s ceremony was in Sentinel Hotel’s Grand Ballroom. The elegance of the arched ceiling, paneled walls, and gleaming chandeliers underscored the sacred atmosphere. Swaths of white drapery cascaded from the Chuppah, featuring clusters of ivory flowers and greenery courtesy of Haute Flowers. More floral arrangements lined either side of the aisle and bordered the grand stage at the head of the room. The color scheme was timeless, and the lush arrangements breathed life into the space.

British-Inspired Elegance in the Governor Ballroom

After the ceremony, the celebration moved to the Governor Ballroom at the Sentinel Hotel. Our team loved working in this magnificent space to bring Brittany and Jake’s vision for a timeless, elegant reception to life! Navy satin linens draped over the round tables circled by black Chiavari chairs from Arden Event Collective and topped with towering tree centerpieces atop geometric gold stands. Meanwhile, the couple and their bridal party sat at a long King’s Table, re-named the “Queen’s Table,” to pay homage to the iconic British monarch. Then, a large, hand-calligraphed mirror seating chart by Letters & Dust showed everyone where to go.

We incorporated nods to Jake’s British upbringing throughout the evening! A pick ‘n’ mix table with authentic English candies beckoned guests to fill a bag with sweet souvenirs. At the bar, guests could choose between Mr. and Mrs. cocktails or a Pimm’s Cup, a classic British cocktail. Everyone saluted the Queen during the toasts, and the couple’s female guests wore fascinators á la The Royal Wedding. While Portland couldn’t be further from London, all these details brought a slice of home to the festivities for Jake.
