Timberline Mountain Magic

What a year! While most of BLC Events’ pandemic activities involved rescheduling celebrations out a year or planning significantly scaled back mini-Mitzvahs and parties, we did have the distinct pleasure of coordinating Teri and Jeffrey’s breathtaking, intimate wedding at the historic Timberline Lodge in October. Following Covid health and safety protocols – from a guest list capped at 36, to masks, assigned pod seating and lots of space between seats – did not detract from the beautiful ceremony and reception. All the meaningful details still created a dream wedding for this sweet couple even amidst a global pandemic.

Our groom grew up working at Timberline and has a close family connection to the lodge, making the location all the more meaningful, and providing the inspiration for the custom invitations from our go-to stationer, Lisa at Crave Design – a drawing of the landmark features on both the envelope liner and the menu cards. Avid skiers, Terri and Jeffrey actually met on a chairlift, the perfect relationship detail for the custom logo we used on the seating cards and cocktail napkins.

The day of the wedding started as most of our traditional weddings do – with our bride spending time with her bridesmaids and family members getting ready for her special day. The incomparable Lisa of Lisa Boehm Beauty oversaw the bridal party’s hair and makeup (she didn’t even miss a beat with the sanitizing and resetting we scheduled between each service). Terri was radiant in an elegant, modern gown – a picturesque contrast to the iconic timbered lodge. Ready for first-look photos and the ceremony!

Of course, Mother Nature, not to be outdone by a global pandemic, had other plans for our outdoor ceremony – supplying her own confetti in the form of SNOW. Lots of it. Fortunately, BLC Events always has a Plan B (and C, truth be told) so in the year of “the pivot”, we were able to shift the ceremony inside up to the Raven’s Nest.

The abundance of stunning floral from our friend Roger Motter of Haute Flowers brought the room to life with the snow flurrying outside. Rentals from The Party Pros added a stylish touch to the now indoor ceremony and the classic signage from Brittany at Letters & Dust tied all the details together, right down to the custom masks. We even had pashminas “To Have and to Hold, In Case You Get Cold” – a must for a mountain wedding!

We always honor our bride and groom’s wishes when it comes to traditions, but it does make us secretly ecstatic when they are up for capturing that “first look” moment privately before the ceremony and allowing for all the essential portraiture to happen without the time pressure of moving on to the reception. Kate Ames, our gifted photographer, had no shortage of locations for the quintessential wedding shots. She captured every moment and detail of this day perfectly.

To keep numbers low, the ceremony was performed by a member of the family and the talented Blue Wave Band provided the live music for the entire event – from ceremony, to cocktails, to dinner and reception.

The freshly minted Mr. & Mrs. Kohnstamm were ready to celebrate (6 feet apart from most of their guests, of course)! The wedding party recessed downstairs for cocktails, dinner and dancing in the fabulously adorned Ullman Hall. More gorgeous Haute flowers, draped and twinkle-lighted ceilings, Letters & Dust’s essential pandemic pod seating chart and Crave Design’s Timberline-inspired menu cards created such a warm, intimate setting for this unforgettable reception. Mountain Magic indeed!

The tables were so inviting guests didn’t want to leave them – which was ideal for keeping up the social distancing standards! Appetizers and the signature His (Kentucky Mule) and Hers (Tijuana Mule) cocktails were served directly to tables and guests remained there through the delectable dinner catered by Timberline. After Blue Wave Band’s lovely dinner music and touching toasts, Terri & Jeffrey took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife.

The traditional cutting of Dream Cakes‘ amazing wedding cake creation (snow)capped a most memorable event!

In a year when so many dreams were put on hold, we were honored to play a part in making Terri and Jeffrey’s dream wedding come true. This couple celebrated their love story safely with the closest of family and friends in a grand, historic location and all the personalized details BLC Events is known for. Thank you, Terri and Jeffrey, for a silver lining event in 2020. Cheers!
