Social Butterfly Bat Mitzvah

How do you make a leap year Bat Mitzvah even more memorable? Hold it on February 29th, pull out ALL the stops with custom details galore….and have it right before the world literally shuts down for the better part of a year! Ok, so that last part we didn’t plan, but here at BLC Events we are grateful for all the memories from Tessa’s beautiful butterfly-themed Bat Mitzvah that helped get us through the event drought that a global pandemic creates.

The elegant Portland Golf Club served as the location for both the Bat Mitzvah ceremony and the celebratory reception…so we had to get creative with the decor set up and draping from Peter Corvallis Productions to create rooms within the room. Guests entered to this fabulous custom keepsake sign from our friend Brittany at Letters & Dust, adding their own personal well wishes for Tessa’s big day. We were thrilled to have the talented Jai from Love and Photography there to capture every detail and special moment. Gorgeous floral from Haute Flowers and butterfly accents everywhere set the stage for an epic social (butterfly) event!

Family and friends gathered down in the main ballroom space for the touching ceremony, complete with a personal serenade from the Bat Mitzvah herself.

Time for Higher Ground Entertainment to get the party started! First, the big reveal of the spectacular kids lounge behind the drapes from the ceremony.

We really love when the space and event allow for a great lounge and this one had everything! A delicious buffet tailored to the younger palate, a “bar” featuring a signature mocktail, comfy ottomans for lounging, a Stumptown Photo booth, a fabulous create-your-own flower crown station from Portland Bloem, custom “sunglasses at night” and, of course, lots and lots of butterflies!

While the kids had the time of their life in the lounge, the grown-up set was invited to the East Lounge for a real bar and cocktail hour, followed by a delectable plated meal upstairs in the dining area. We carried the butterfly theme in to the adult rooms as well – more fantastic floral from Roger at Haute, butterfly bedecked seating cards and custom menus from Lisa at Crave Design.

Crave Design was also the creative behind the custom logo that fit Tessa and her theme to a “T” – we used it everywhere we could – cocktail napkins, table numbers, the DJ’s table, dancer’s shirts and candy bag stickers. It was the perfect, personal detail to tie everything together.

After dining and drinking, it was time for some dancing! The DJ from Higher Ground Entertainment turned it up a notch with an assist from our dance team duo and got the kids going while the adults finished their dinner. We even had butterflies on the dance floor!

All the guests joined in just in time for one of our favorite traditions of the Bat Mitzvah evening – the Hora. Tessa was beaming and enjoyed every minute as the social butterfly!

At the height of the revelry, we sent out the mobile candy bar for a sugar rush to carry the guests through the end of night.

We went dark to finish the festivities – a blacklight dance party with plenty of neon and everyone danced ’til they could dance no more!

It was truly an event to remember! We pulled out all the stops with the personalized details for this Bat Mitzvah. Now that we are all slowly getting back to our social butterfly lives, we are looking back on Tessa’s Bat Mitzvah to remind us how it’s done. Thank you Jacobs Family for choosing BLC Events to plan what turned out to be the party of the year for 2020! Mazeltov, Tessa!
