We have the honor and pleasure of coordinating many extraordinary weddings at Waverley Country Club and Jacqualyn and Marcus’ October nuptials were no exception. We are longtime friends of the bride’s family and knew Jacqualyn to be very modern and fashion-savvy. The trick was to transform the traditional venue into the picture of modern sophistication to match the couple’s vision. Our carefully crafted design plan, signature attention to detail, and meticulously developed vendor relationships with the best in the business created a stylish, avant-garde event that exceeded their expectations. Fall Fabulous indeed!

October 16th was a perfect fall day in Portland – we could not have ordered better weather. To pull off this event for almost 200 guests, we had to use every available space at Waverley – including the North Lawn where we set up the ceremony tent thanks to the incredible team at West Coast Event Productions.

The bride, mothers and bridesmaids had an early start upstairs in the Ladies Lounge with a light breakfast by Waverley, makeup from the talented Cristina Jaramillo, and hair by the professionals from Powder Inc. The groom and his friends enjoyed a more leisurely morning getting ready and watching sports in the Egan Cottage until it was time for photos.

Speaking of photos, the amazingly gifted Jessica Hill was on hand to capture every marvelous moment of their special day. We may have mentioned in other posts how much we appreciate couples who schedule portraiture prior to the ceremony and Jacqualyn and Marcus obliged, allowing Jessica to take full advantage of beautiful fall light and the grounds around Waverley.

From the bride & groom’s “first look” to the bridal party and all the family, Jessica’s signature wedding portrait style had everyone shining.

While the photos were captured, the rest of Waverley underwent an epic transformation to chic and ultramodern – from underneath the tent to the dining room and the patio turned cocktail lounge to the ballroom turned sophisticated dance club – thanks to rentals from West Coast Events and lighting from Greenlight Creative. The stunning floral artistry from Roger Motter of Haute, with an abundance of white calla lilies, just elevated every space, aligning with the clean, modern vision.

The signage for this event from Brittany at Letters and Dust was next-level – especially the mirrored seating chart greeting guests at the entrance to the dining room.

Impeccably set tables with sleek menus from Lisa at Crave (of course), tied all the elegant details together.

Time for the main event! The Melegari Chamber Players ushered guests into the tent with their beautiful music for the ceremony. The bride’s adorable nephew and infant niece served as the ringbearer and flower girl – simply priceless. (And still swooning over that Chuppa, Roger!)

The freshly minted Mr. & Mrs. Lefton recessed for some sunset newlywed photos while their guests were treated to a cocktail hour on the patio. Delectable passed appetizers, signature Mrs. & Mr. cocktails from the bar and a festive, candlelit atmosphere for the gorgeous fall evening.

Waverley’s traditional chimes rang the guests into dinner for a spectacular three-course meal. DJ Zimmie of Modern Event Solutions introduced the Leftons into the reception for dining, toasts and dessert. The pièce de résistance in the dining room was Dream Cakes‘ tasteful creation.

A quick change for the bride for the celebration’s final event. DJ Zimmie pumped up the tunes drawing all the revelers into the ballroom lounge to dance the night away – featuring Stumptown Photo Booth, late night snacks, and custom slippers for dancing feet!

Truly a phenomenal fall wedding! Even we were impressed with the ability to shift a favorite traditional, elegant venue into a vision of modern sophistication. Every couple is unique and it’s amazing to watch Waverley adapt with our event coordination to feel special every time.
